Interactive Notebook (MAT 257)
Let me tell you one of my favorite things I am coming away with from this math class. My math teacher has us put together these interactive notebooks. We then have a compilation of notes, study tools, and visuals. As a future educator, I also have a compilation of future lesson resources. This takeaway is so much more helpful than a stack of worksheets, notes, and other handouts. Instead its easy to follow and reference back to, making it more likely that I will use it again.
I just used a plain old black and white composition notebook for my math class. :) Also here is a fun boomerang of my notebook.
After flipping back through my notebook tonight, I had the thought of how other subjects could benefit from interactive notebooks. Or maybe doing an all subject interactive notebook.
I am linking below some other resources I have found that may be helpful in starting or getting ideas for classroom interactive notebooks.
I loved this Blog post about "Ways to Make Interactive Notebooks Manageable". I brought to my attention that it can be overwhelming or stressful to put together these notebooks in young classrooms. However, her tips are great for remembering all of the small details that go into having interactive notebooks in a classroom. I highly recommend reading this if you plan on using interactive notebooks in your classroom.
Here is another bloggers tips for using interactive notebooks in the classroom. The tips are geared toward younger grades. "10 Interactive Notebook Tips"
I pulled this one from PINTEREST. This is one you would have to purchase to access the templates, but the image is good for ideas. This would be great for some pages in an English interactive notebook.
Hi Holli,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of an interactive notebook for classes. I need to start doing this more often! I like how the Pinterest part is all organized with different parts that students could write in. I also like your notebook for math as well! This is super helpful and I will be using this in my future classroom. Nice job!
Holli,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on the notebooks! Having a place where I can find all of the stuff I have learned really helps me to feel organized and I like knowing exactly where to find everything. I know that Professor Klassen has us do flaps occasionally in our notebooks, but the examples you gave from Pinterest are so creative! I love seeing how many different ways it can be done. Your blog is very well written.
